Hey everyone! As you may have noticed, I try to be as open and personal as possible on this website and don’t hold anything back in my blog posts, email correspondences, and consulting. As such, I want to talk about something almost completely unrelated to real estate : personal fitness.

I want to get in-shape.

I am not morbidly overweight, and some people (hi Mom and Dad…) say I’m too skinny. But it’s not about being fat now. It’s about getting into the best shape of my life and stopping the pattern that so many Americans fall into.

I don’t want to become just another fat, rich, old guy someday.

Rich would be okay. White… Can’t change that. Fat… no.

I’m changing right now.

So I’m going to do P90X for the next 90 days.

However, I’ve learned that there are certain things I’m not real good at in life. One of those is being motivated when I don’t want to be.

Can you relate?

Because of this, I decided to share my journey right here on RealEstateInYourTwenties.com for anyone who wants to follow along. I am going to set up a page on the blog that is my online journal for getting in-shape. Each day, I’ll update the page with my progress. It’s not going to be real in-depth or lengthy; just a quick line or two about how much I worked out, what I’ve been eating like, and how I feel. I’ll even post some pictures (maybe…) to let you know the progress.

I do this for one main reason: Motivation.

I know that if I just start to work out – I am likely to stop and give up. However, if thousands of people are checking out my progress – then I have a lot more motivation to actually do it.

Again, this will be the only post that I talk about my journey here on the main blog. From now on, I will be posting on a separate section of my blog with a link at the top of the homepage. Go ahead and look! It’s there. It says “My P90X Journal

If you are interested in jumping in and participating as well along with me – email me and let me know. I’m always up for accountability!

That’s all I got!  Stay tuned tomorrow for a sweet Infographic about home buying as well as news about my upcoming e-book!

Until next time!

There are two goals that everybody should have in life at all times: 1. To get and stay healthy and 2. Be financially free. All the other goals are optional in my opinion. But these two are a must. You’re doing the right thing with your investments and now with P90X.
Cheers,
Derek

Solid Work!
Hey Brandon! My wife and I follow your blog regularly and have benefitted a great amount from what you share. I just want to say congratulations on starting P90X, it is one of the best investments someone can make toward their life. I have been up to my ears in P90X this year, I have finished 1 full round and another 1/2 round before moving to Insanity, both are absolutely fantastic workouts. If you need any accountability or encouragement, feel free to hit me up =)

I am also starting a fitness blog if you are interested, it is just getting started and in early development (https://emanuelesquivel.wordpress.com/) but i will be updating it regularly, I am about to start a P90X/Insanity hybrid and then head in on P90X2.

Best of Luck and remember, just “push play”

Hey Thanks Emanuel! I actually debated quite a bit between doing Insanity vs. P90X again (or P90X2). I finally settled on P90X again because I had everything I needed to get started and wouldn’t be able to use “well, I need to buy the DVDs” as an excuse. 🙂 Also, I’m a bit more focused on “bulking up” than just weight loss – so I figured P90X might be better for that. What’s your experience with Insanity? I think I’ll do that next then! (Sounds like Plyometrics everyday?)

And thanks for the comment! I’ll for sure bookmark your fitness blog! Keep in touch!

I love seeing people be real about their lives, which means they aren’t 100% real estate! I know all of us investors come across like that’s all we care about, but come on, we are still real people 🙂 Rock on with the workout. I’m trying to get back in shape around real estate as well.

Thanks Ali! Yeah, I was just talking with my wife the other day about that – how everyone is like the “something” guy. I’m the “real estate guy,” others are “the music guy” or “the starbucks girl”. But in reality we are much more multifaceted. So now I’m the “P90X Investor Guy!” 🙂

Brandon congrats on the decision to start P90X. I personally love the Insanity workouts and have completed Insanity and Insanity the Asylum. They are great core and cardio building programs. P90X is a great program itself which I will be starting when I return from my deployment over seas in February. I chose the Insanity programs first because they focused on building core strength of which all other strength is derived from. I see it much like setting the foundation for a house. If the foundation is a 6” slab you are not going to be building a sky scaper but more a single family home. (Yes I have been reading my Rich Dad Poor Dad). Anyways that is why I started with Insanity but cudos to you.

My wife Angela is actually a Team Beach Body Coach. I have attached her website to this post. If you want any information on other programs or shakeology (the backbone to beach body fitness) she is the one to ask. She is also a great motivator and has a facebook page dedicated to motivating others with similar goals. You will find the beach body organization is a huge network of like minded indiviguals who want to improve health through exercise and nutrition, not the next fad/gimic diet. Check out her page and if you need anything let us know.

Hey Brandon It’s nice to know that you have that great motivation. I’m getting the hang of P90x. I started it last week and its really motivating and hard. Thanks for this write up. I think I’ll be hitting a good shape soon!

Awesome Angela! It’s tough – but it really helps having that public accountability 🙂

This is very useful information; everyone wants a piece of land. It’s the only sure investment. Land wills double its value in ten years. In less than that. Land is going up every day. Those who fully understand the intricacies of creative real estate investing continue to participate and profit.

Brandon, congrats and keep up the good work!!! I have not done P90X, but did the Insanity workout this spring!!! I loved it!!! Believe me, the next week I could not hardly climb out of bed, but it was more than worth it. I also took the Shakeology for breakfast every morning, and followed the Paleo Diet along with it. It was the best combo ever, and I had never felt so amazing in my life! Dig Deeper, and keep pushing play!!!!!

Thanks Sabrina! I will definitely do the “Insanity” program when I finish P90X. I need to do some more research into the Paleo Diet, and Shakeology! I don’t seem to be eating enough, I think.

Hey Brandon stumbled onto your blog from Bigger Pockets. I did P90X while deployed and mixed Insanity in as well.

My personal experience is that I found the cardio days for p90x to be lackluster at best. I personally chose those days to get some running in. Plyometrics is solid especially found that it helped with hip flexor mobility issues. You’ll find that insanity is essentially like taking the plyometrics day and multiplying it by 10. Do two weeks of insanity and it will laugh at the plyo day.

P90X workouts are very time intensive as I’m sure you’ve noticed after the first couple weeks. Once you finish you may to transition to exericses like Kettle bell swings/movements which can be accomplished in 1/3 the time and still essentially reach similar fitness goals.

The Yoga that I did in p90x encouraged me to try Bikram Yoga when I got home and I loved that as well. Really helped improve my discipline and ability to stay calm in externally stressful environments (tennant yelling at you 🙂

Keep up the good work with website and you have my email now so hit me up if you have any q’s etc. I’m within about 1.5 hours drive time of you.

Cheers! 🙂

How’s the P90x going, Brandon? I haven’t followed the whole program but occasionally do one of the workouts. I’ve got RevAbs…might be on the 60 month abs program. 🙂 The nice thing about every day is it’s a new chance to re-commit!

Hey Tiffany – It’s going good! Well, I took like almost a week off because I had friends visiting from out of the area and we basically took a “Stay-cation” and traveled all around the NW. I suppose I could have woken up earlier and worked out, but honestly it seemed a bit odd to do! (excuses… I know). But I’m back with it now. Got up this morning early and did the Arms and Shoulders routine plus Abs, which is my favorite workout. I have not heard of RevAbs – I’ll have to check that one out!

Hey Matt – Thanks for the info! I just did Plyo yesterday and it killed me! I’m excited for Insanity next (but not quite ready for it!)

I really can’t stand the Yoga in P90X, so I usually skip it and put in something else instead. I’m sure it does help – but its so long and boring and I don’t feel like I get much out of it. Thoughts?

1.5 hours of me? You must be up near Seattle, eh?

Thanks again for the advice! Keep in touch!

Thanks for doing this, Brandon. I have the same goals, and lack motivation as well. Your progess reports will keep my motivated along the way. I hope we get to a point where we can’t go a day without working out!
